It can easy deliquescence, soluble in water, hydrochloric acid, alcohols,
It loses its crystal water and decomposed in strong heat.

Chloroiridic acid H₂IrCl₆·6H₂O application:

1. Electrode surface plating, iridium titanium plate, iridium titanium mesh.
2. Precious metal catalyst precursor, preparation of iridium carbon, iridium homogeneous catalyst, 
    preparation of iridium oxide raw materials

3. Catalytic electrochemical synthesis of polyaniline on non-precious metal electrode surface;  

4. It is used to form iridium-replaced Dawson and Keggin polyoxometalates by refilling the vacancy of a missing precursor.
